Gearpumps in general
Gear pumps are the most popular pumps used in modern hydraulic systems. Marzocchi gear pumps excel in versatility, power and long life span. The simple design of a gear pump ensures relatively low maintenance costs and low purchase prices. Thanks to these properties (enriched by a continuous search into further development of the design, accuracy, choice of materials and production methods) these gear pumps are produced to the highest possible standard. Because of this a gear pump can be applied in heavy duty hydraulic applications without loss of hydraulic power. Above all our gear pumps have good mechanical and volumetric efficiencies, low noise levels, and last but not least low power to weight ratios. Marzocchi has different series of hydraulic gear pumps in their range of products which have each been designed for specific applications..
1P gear pumps from Marzocchi have been designed for compact applications and auxiliary functions with a limited capacity. This series is called 1P and is often used in electric hydraulic (compact )units. . The housing, flange and cover are made of special high resistance aluminium alloys ensuring minimal distortion at maximum operating pressure or peak pressure. The housing is made by extrusion and the flange and cover are made by injection moulding. The gears are made from specially hardened steel with a precise surface treatment. The design of the right shape of the teeth of the gears ensure a low noise level when operating the Marzocchi 1P pump.
Direction of rotation
1P gear pumps are available in clockwise, counter-clockwise and bi-rotational configurations. When ordering it is important to indicate which configuration is required as the 1P gear pumps cannot be modified without changing extra parts.
Intergrated pressure control
It is possible to equip 1P gear pumps with integrated pressure control. With this option the maximum operating pressure of the whole hydraulic system is regulated at the pump. The main advantage of this is that no extra components and valves are necessary and that when the pump is placed inside an oil tank it prevents people from adjusting the maximum operating pressure. There are two different versions that can be supplied as pressure control valve on the 1P pumps. Option 1: valve that drains the regulated oil flow back internally to the suction side of the 1P gear pump. Option 2: valve that drains the regulated oil flow back externally to the tank.
In some applications, for instance hydraulic wood cleavers, a quick return stroke of the cylinder is required (also known as rapid traverse), and when power is needed the system can switch to a smaller oil flow at high operating pressure. This makes it possible to work safely and controlled. With the 1P series Marzocchi has developed a special Hi-Lo gear pump which consists of a double pump with integrated valve. At rapid traverse both pumps pump at their maximum speed, at low speed the pump with the highest displacement is hydraulically disconnected and only the pump with the lowest efficiency will keep operating. Because of this there is power available to operate at a higher controlled operating pressure.
It is possible to combine 1P micro pumps as tandem pumps. Because of this it is easily possible to add a second hydraulic circuit to the application.
1P pumps are used in many different hydraulic applications, so sometimes it is necessary to equip the gear pumps with special seals. Marzocchi 1P gear pumps can optionally be provided with the following seals:
- Option “V”; Viton seals, by using viton seals the 1P gear pump can withstand high temperatures. Temperature range will change to -10°C to +120°C, while maintaining operating pressure P1,P2 and P3 as indicated in the product documentation. A 1P pump with viton seals can also be used in temperatures up to +150°C if the maximum operating pressure does not exceed 20 bar.
- Option “ST”; these seals make a 1P hydraulic pump suitable for low as well as high temperatures. The pump can be used from -40°C to +120°C.
- Option “H’; HNBR seals, by using HNBR seals the 1P gear pumps can be used at low temperatures. The pump can be used for applications from -40°C to +80°C.
- Option “TR”, with this option the hydraulic pump can be used for applications with a high inlet pressure up to 6 bar. This option is also available in combination with option V, ST and H.
